Banyak pertanyaan tentang keaslian mutiara air tawar, mutiara air tawar banyak diproduksi di China (mass product) pertama-tama mutiara ini dibudidaya di Amerika, jenis kerang  air tawar  dalam bahasa latin "margaritifera" , Jenis kerang air tawar juga banyak varianya tidak semua menghasilkan muiara , seperti gambar jenis kerang mutiara tawar seperi dibawah ini, bisa anda lihat bahwa satu kerang dapat menghasilkan 20-40 butir mutiara , kebanyakan bentuk mutiara tersebut tidak bulat , hal ini disebabkan mutiara tawar tidak mempunyai inti mutiara atau " nucleus" , inti mutiara tersebut didapat dari kulit siput yang hidup disungai di missisipi debentuk bulat seperti kelereng dengan besar sesuai  keinginan dan dimaksukan dalam gonad, kelenjar reproduksi kerang laut (" Pincada Maxima") , sedangkan kerang mutiara air tawar hanya dimaksukan "mantle tissue" semacam jaringan tubuh kerang dipotong kecil-kecil dan dimaksukan dalam kerang , lama kelamaan mantle tisue tersebut dibungkus oleh nacre sehingga menjadi mutiara.












Mutiara air tawar tidak dibudidaya dilombok tetapi di China , sedangkan Lombok Menghasilkan mutiara laut ( south sea pearl) dan konon south sea pearl Lombok yang terbaik didunia.

Bagaimana mengetahui mutiara tersebut asli atau palsu..?
ada beberapa cara untuk mengetahui mutiara tersebut asli atau palsu diantaranya

- Menggigitnya akan terasa berpasir.
- Membakarnya.
- X-ray

Menggigit adalah cara yang paling mudah dan sering dilakukan orang .

Membakar juga boleh dilakukan dengan sarat tidak terlalu lama , karena benda apapun kalau dibakar terlalu lama akan bereaksi bahkan besipun akan bereaksi (meleleh dsb).
Mutiara laut relatif lebih kuat dibanding mutiara tawar, kalau mutiara tawar tidak terbakar hanya akan mempunyai kesan terbakar, sedangkan mutiara laut tidak, kalau mutiara palsu dengan hitungan detik, akan cepat terbakar dan meleleh, kecuali mutiara palsu yang dibuat dari kaca.

Atau dengan cara memukul dengan palu maka mutiara tawar akan pecah dan mempunyai textur seperti bawang, berlapis-lapis karena kalau kita perhatikan bagaimana kerang tersebut pada saat dioperasi (Nucleating) dengan dimasukan mante tisue kerang akan bereaksi dan membungkusnya perlahan-lahan dengan cairan " nacre" sehingga menjadi mutiara, sehingga textur seperti bawang jelas sekali terlihat. kalau ditumbuk dia akan menjadi tepung.

Contoh gambar disamping, hal ini saya lakukan untuk memperlihatakan warna mutiara tersebut asli atau warna celup dapat anda lihat mutiara yang pecah itu adalah mutiara yang warnanya hasil celupan karena terlihat warna aslinya adalah putih dan dicelup dengan warna pink,
Dari contoh gambar disamping memperlihatkan bahwa mutiara tersebut asli hanya warnanya yang tidak asli atau hasil celupan (dyed color)

Mengapa toko-mutiara.com ? beberapa orang memakai logika sederhana seperti biasanya orang umum kalau beli sesuatu yang agak "classy" mereka bilang beli ditoko, kalau yang pasaran mereka bilang beli dipasar, kalau yang murah akan bilang beli digrosiran...???, tidak-tidak bukan karena itu saya pilih nama toko-mutiara.com , lebih karena kebanyakan nama domain yang lain sudah kepakai orang dan sisa nama domain yang ada / tersedia salah satunya nama tersebut so..dari pada pusing-pusing dengan mengucap "Bismillah" akhirnya saya pakai juga, dan Alhamdullilah nama tersebut sedikit demi sedikit mulai dikenal orang , dan biasa kalau dikenal sedikit mulai ada yang menirunya seperti di alamat ini (http://tokomutiaralombok.ebay-indonesia.com )tidak sama sih cuman mirip tapi baner yang dipakai sepertinya saya kenal dengan fotonya...lah iya dong yang foto saya sendiri tentu saya kenal he..he.., hanya modal "Copy" and "Paste" rupanya..he.he., tapi tak apalah rejeki tak lari kemana, cuman para kostumer harus tahu bahwa toko-mutiara.com tidak sama dengan tokomutiaralombok...ok...
